Privacy Policy

The Catio Carpenter respects your privacy. This policy explains, in plain terms, what personal information we collect when you use this site or ask us for a quote, how we use it, when we might send you marketing, and the choices you have. We handle your information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), and we only ever ask for what we need to help you build a safe space for your cat.

Information we collect

When you send an enquiry or request a quote, we collect the details you choose to give us: your name, phone number and email address, your suburb and postcode, and your address if you share it for a site visit or quote. We also keep any notes about your property, your cats and the enclosure you have in mind, along with any photos or extra details you send later. When you submit the form we record basic technical details too, such as your IP address and the page you enquired from. We don't collect more than we need to get back to you and scope the work.

How we use your information

We use your details to respond to your enquiry, arrange and carry out a site visit, prepare your quote, and complete any work you decide to go ahead with. We may also use your contact details to follow up about your enquiry or an ongoing job, and to keep the records we're required to keep. We do not sell or rent your information to anyone.

Marketing

From time to time we may use your contact details to let you know about our cat enclosures, seasonal offers or handy tips you'd reasonably expect to hear about after getting in touch with us. Every marketing message we send includes an easy way to opt out, and we'll stop as soon as you ask. We send these in line with the Spam Act 2003 (Cth). You can tell us to stop marketing to you at any time, and doing so won't affect any work we're carrying out for you.

Service & transactional messages

Separately from marketing, we send you the service messages you'd expect as part of dealing with us: replies to your enquiry, your quote, and updates about bookings, site visits and your job. These keep your job moving, so they aren't marketing and we'll keep sending them while you're an active enquiry or customer.

Sharing your information

We don't sell, rent or trade your personal information, and we never hand your enquiry to anyone else for their own marketing. We only share your details where it's needed to run our business or the job, for example with the service providers who host this website, deliver our enquiry form or help us manage bookings and quotes, and only so they can provide those services to us. We may also disclose information where the law requires it.

Where your information is stored

Some of the providers we rely on to host this site and handle enquiries store information on servers outside Australia. Where that happens, we take reasonable steps to make sure your information stays protected to the standard the Australian Privacy Principles require.

Analytics & cookies

This site uses analytics (via Google Tag Manager) to understand how visitors find and use it, so we can improve it. These tools may set cookies or collect information such as your approximate location, device and the pages you view, generally in a form that doesn't identify you personally. You can block or clear cookies in your browser settings at any time; the site will still work.

Keeping your information

We keep your enquiry and job details for as long as we need them to respond to you, deliver the work and meet our record-keeping and tax obligations. When we no longer need them, we take reasonable steps to delete or de-identify them.

Keeping it secure

We take reasonable steps to protect your information from loss, misuse and unauthorised access. No website or system is ever completely secure, but we work with reputable providers and only hold what we need.

Access, correction & your choices

You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it if it's wrong, or ask us to delete it, just get in touch and we'll sort it out. You can also tell us to stop contacting you, or unsubscribe from our marketing, at any time.

Complaints

If you're worried about how we've handled your personal information, get in touch and we'll do our best to put it right. If you're still not happy, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au, the national privacy regulator.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time as our business or the law changes. The current version always lives on this page, with the date it was last updated shown below.
